We are currently seeking  Experienced Baristas with full time availability (including evenings, weekends, and holidays), and who is able to start immediately to join the team at our Guelph location.  The position reports to the Café Manager.  Previous Barista experience is an asset, but we are willing to train.  A commitment and passion for customer service is critical.  Key responsibilities will include:

Qualifications:

  • Barista experience preferred but not required

  • Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work standing up for 8 hour shifts.
  • Ability on occasion to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted and carry as required
  • Ability to lift and turn throughout the shift

Position: Logistics – Coffee Roaster, full time availability

Location: Balzac’s Head Office, 675 Tradewind Drive, Ancaster ON, L9G 4V5

Description:

Reporting to the Director of Coffee, the Coffee Roaster is tasked with the critical responsibility of ensuring the great quality of our coffee. A day in the life of a roaster includes prepping the roast schedule for the day based on order volume, loading and physically handling green coffee bags, roasting each coffee to a set profile, and conducting quality control activities to ensure each coffee tastes great. This person must have high attention to detail and take true pleasure in a clean and organized work space. In addition, the roaster takes responsibility for ensuring the preventative maintenance and proper working order of all Loring roasting equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a production schedule for the day in coordination with the production team.
  • Roast each coffee to a set profile as articulated by the Director of Coffee.
  • Mix various blends for production and record information for Organic requirements.
  • Organize and supervise green coffee inventory.
  • Participate in cuppings and other QC activities for ongoing quality assurance.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance on Loring roasters and other related equipment.
  • Complete cleanliness and organizational checklists to ensure an organized, efficient, safe, and clean workspace.
  • Maintain records of all coffee orders and details to satisfy the needs of the Accounting Department.
  • Maintain records and checklists of all maintenance, preventative maintenance, and cleaning actions relating to the Loring roasters.
  • Follow all Work Safe Practices at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Roasting experience preferred, barista experience also an asset.
  • Able to work under pressure, ensuring roasted coffee volumes match with production requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail; excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Willingness to accept the most effective role.
