Great for Holiday Parties!

Balzac’s venues offer a unique and warm environment for special events that require something less traditional than a restaurant or a banquet hall. We feel we are one of the more interesting places in the city to hold special events as we provide a free-standing building rich in history, carefully planned and updated using custom modern and original antique furnishings, and artifacts hand-picked from antique markets and auctions around the world.

Cafés are available for rental

7 days a week year round
from 5pm to 2am

Some dates are excluded due to festivals and holidays, or any site-wide events that we feel may impact negatively on your enjoyment of the space.

  • Usage

  • The rental rate includes your Location Supervisor who is also required for the duration of your event. Our supervisor will assist your event staff throughout the night, and work with them to clean up at the conclusion of the event.

    The rental rate also includes a security officer who is required at all events where alcohol is served. The officer will be booked through Balzac's and the charge will appear as part of the rental statement.

    Full use of the café, its furnishings, and the outdoor patio if the location has a patio and the seasonal weather permits its use.

  • Catering & Event Planners

  • Balzac's allows most outside caterers and planners. We can also make recommendations for caterers who have worked in our venues, or we can approve someone who has not worked with us before.

  • Alcohol

  • For all locations the user may obtain a Special Occasion Permit from the LCBO for alcohol service ($25.00), we do not charge a corkage fee on any alcohol brought in for a private event.

    IDEAL USAGE - Wedding ceremonies and receptions, cocktail receptions, corporate functions, book launches, fundraisers.

    CAPACITY - Cocktail receptions, standing: Up to 100 people. Seated dinners: 40-50 on each floor, we recommend that one floor be used for a cocktail area and another for the dinner. There are two washrooms in the building, both wheelchair accessible and on the main floor.

    PATIO ACCESS - Large patio available in front of the café overlooking main Distillery Square.

    AUDIO - Bands and DJ s are welcome to perform in the café, we have several areas that work best for set up.

    STORAGE - There is a storage room with a lock for any personal items and alcohol brought in before the event.

    PHOTOGRAPHY - Permits are typically issued for any photography done outside of the café, on common Distillery ground, and are available to any client having a party or getting married in the café through the Distillery District Management Office.

    TENTING - A tent is permitted along the south side of the building. Prices and general tent information can be provided by Balzac's or your own event coordinator.

    LANDMARK FEE - Events with food and beverage service at our distillery district café are subject to a landmark fee.

    CAPACITY - Cocktail receptions, standing: Up to 60 people (40 seated). There are two washrooms in the building, both wheelchair accessible and on the main floor.

    PATIO ACCESS - Patio available at the front of the café.
